DAVID HOLBERRY AND SHOCKING SEXUAL PREDATION IN SWINDON
A man from Swindon, identified as 29-year-old David Holberry, has been implicated in disturbing online sexual misconduct involving minors. The incident came to light after a paedophile hunting group conducted a covert operation in Salisbury in 2021, which ultimately led to his arrest.
Holberry appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 5th, where he pleaded guilty to two separate charges related to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
The court proceedings revealed that Holberry had been communicating with what he believed were underage girls through fake profiles created by the vigilant paedophile hunters.
Prosecutor Pauline Lambert detailed that Holberry had been engaging in sexualised conversations with these fake profiles, which he thought belonged to young girls under the age of 16.
During these exchanges, he explicitly instructed the fictitious minors to tie their feet together and to put socks in their mouths, actions that underscore the disturbing nature of his intentions.
The court was informed that the defendant, who resides on Whitworth Road in Swindon, was under the impression that he was communicating with real minors.
His interactions, as described by the authorities, were of a highly inappropriate and predatory nature.
Representing Holberry in court, duty solicitor Liz Highams expressed concern regarding his mental health, noting that he was aware of the proceedings and understood the charges against him.
Despite this, she confirmed that he has the capacity to stand trial.
Following his guilty plea, the magistrates ordered Holberry to register as a sex offender at Gablecross Police Station within 72 hours.
They also mandated the preparation of a pre-sentence report to better understand his background and potential risk factors.
Holberry was granted unconditional bail and the case was adjourned until November 27th for sentencing.
The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which such offences are treated, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding minors from online predators.
