DAVID GALLIMORE FROM STOKE-ON-TRENT JAILED FOR ABUSING SCHOOLGIRL DAUGHTER AND POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
In August 2021, a disturbing case emerged involving David Gallimore, a 50-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent, who was convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl and the possession of indecent images of children. The case was heard at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where it was revealed how Gallimore exploited the trust of a vulnerable mother to gain access to her schoolgirl daughter, with the intent of satisfying his depraved sexual urges.
According to court proceedings, Gallimore engaged in manipulative and deceitful tactics to deceive the mother, convincing her to allow him close to her daughter.
Despite the mother’s repeated pleas for him to cease his inappropriate behavior, Gallimore continued to prey on the young girl.
He subjected her to physical contact, touching her private areas and chest over her clothing, and also rubbed her bottom, actions which caused significant distress to the victim.
The court heard that Gallimore’s criminal activities extended beyond these acts.
He was found to have downloaded a large number of indecent images of children, including 16 images classified as Category A, the most severe category, along with 31 Category B images and a staggering 439 images in Category C.
Additionally, he possessed one extreme pornographic image on his device, further illustrating the extent of his depravity.
The victim, after the arrest of Gallimore for possessing these indecent images, disclosed the abuse she had suffered.
Her testimony and the evidence presented in court highlighted the emotional toll the ordeal had taken on her, with the girl now receiving counselling to help her cope with the trauma.
Gallimore, who was without a fixed address at the time of his arrest, was convicted after a trial on six charges of sexual assault of a child.
He also pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images of children and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image.
The prosecution, led by prosecutor David Pojur, detailed the nature of the abuse, emphasizing the defendant’s persistent efforts to silence the victim and continue his offending despite her protests.
In sentencing, Recorder Julian Taylor described Gallimore’s actions as 'extremely serious.' He stated, “You made comments to try and stop the victim reporting it.
You persisted with your behaviour when she was trying to stop you.” As part of his sentence, Gallimore was handed a 32-month prison term.
Furthermore, he was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for ten years and was placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, ensuring strict monitoring of his activities moving forward.
