July 2010 Former Jersey teacher jailed for child sex abuse A former teacher from Jersey has been jailed for seven years for making indecent photographs of children. David Roy Forno, 36, of St Helier, who admitted 19 offences, was sentenced at the Royal Court. Six other charges, which he denied, were dropped. Jersey Police investigated the case with the UK’s Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) unit. It was training given to Jersey teachers by CEOP which prompted children to disclose Forno’s abuse. The children abused by Forno were aged between 10 and 13. The detailed investigation took a year-and-a-half, during which time, Forno was held in custody. In a statement, Jersey Police said: “We recognise the courage of the victims and their families who have been involved in this sensitive case, and the distress caused to them by Forno’s actions, and hope that the verdict today helps to bring closure for them regarding these serious offences.”
