May 2005 Scoutmaster jailed for child porn A scoutmaster who built up a library of child pornography has been jailed for two years. David Davenport, 55, from the Stockport area, was arrested after police found nearly 3,000 images of children on various computers in his home. Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court heard the images ranged from level one to level five – level five being the most serious. Davenport admitted 15 counts of making indecent images of children. He also admitted one count of possessing indecent images of children. ‘Perverted lust’ Maurice Greene, prosecuting, said after allowing officers into his home Davenport said: “You will find lots, I am going down for this – I’ve got level five.” Judge Andrew Lowcock said: “Each one of those [images] involves the abuse of a child and viewing them encourages and fuels an industry which exploits children and causes untold misery to the innocent for financial gain and satisfaction of perverted lust. “The assumption of yours that some of the children were enjoying it was an example of your self-delusion.” Davenport was made to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years and was disqualified from working with children.
