LEICESTER MAN DAVID DARA SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN BLACKPOOL ALLEYWAY
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, David Dara, a 29-year-old man from Leicester, has been convicted and sentenced for a brutal sexual assault that took place in Blackpool.The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, April 23, 2021, when Dara targeted a vulnerable woman in an alleyway located off Hopton Road, near the side of the Home Bargains store on Tyldesley Road, in the South Shore area of Blackpool.
According to police reports, the victim, a 20-year-old woman, was approached by Dara in a seemingly predatory manner.
He then led her into the secluded alley, where he subjected her to a serious sexual assault.
The assault was not only sexual but also violent, with Dara attacking the woman as she lay on the ground.
The attack left the victim traumatized and in need of immediate assistance.
Following the assault, Dara fled the scene on a bicycle, leaving the woman injured and distressed.
Fortunately, two women who happened to be nearby discovered the victim and took her home, where she was able to seek help.
The police were promptly notified, and an investigation was launched to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
During the investigation, detectives examined the scene and recovered several personal items that linked Dara to the crime.
These items included a set of keys, a mobile phone, a bank card, an Adidas bag, and a blue Nike hoodie.
The evidence was compelling enough to establish a connection between Dara and the attack.
Police quickly identified Dara as the suspect and arrested him, along with a 19-year-old man from Blackpool, who was later released without charges after being questioned.
Following a thorough investigation, the Crown Prosecution Service formally charged Dara with rape.
Dara denied the allegations throughout the trial, but the evidence presented in court led to his conviction.
The jury found him guilty of both rape and assault, and he was subsequently sentenced at Burnley Crown Court.
Yesterday, Dara received a sentence of 10 years in prison, with an additional six years on licence, meaning he will be under supervision for a significant period after his release.
Furthermore, he was handed a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which will impose strict conditions on his movements and activities once he is released from prison.
The order aims to prevent any future offending and protect the community from potential harm caused by Dara.
