DAVID CAMERON FROM KEIGHLEY SENTENCED TO TEN YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF TEENAGE GIRLS IN BRADFORD

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Keighley and the wider Bradford area, David Cameron, aged 48, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for his heinous crimes involving two vulnerable teenage girls. The offences took place over a period of time and involved Cameron systematically exploiting the trust and innocence of his young victims.

According to court proceedings, Cameron targeted two girls aged 13 and 15, both of whom were at a particularly impressionable and vulnerable stage of their lives. The judge at Bradford Crown Court described how Cameron cunningly gained their confidence, using manipulative tactics to lure them into dangerous situations. It was revealed that Cameron went to great lengths to create an intimate and seductive environment, including placing candles and rose petals in his bathroom in an apparent attempt to seduce one of the victims.

The court heard that Cameron’s predatory behavior included giving the 13-year-old girl alcohol and drugs, which rendered her unable to resist his advances. The sexual activity with her occurred late at night on the grounds of a school during the summer of 2009. The judge, Judge Robert Bartfield, emphasized the severity of the assault, stating, “She was virtually incapable of resistance and this came as near to rape as can possibly be imagined.”

Further, Cameron was convicted of engaging in sexual activity with the 15-year-old girl after he provided her with neat vodka during an October night. He followed her upstairs and committed sexual acts with her while she was lying on a bed. The court found him guilty of five charges related to sexual activity with a child, with one charge involving the 13-year-old girl and the remaining four concerning the older victim.

Throughout the trial, Cameron’s defense, led by barrister Abdul Iqbal, attempted to portray him as a family man, stating that he was the father of six children and worked as an engineer. Iqbal acknowledged the stigma Cameron would now face as a registered sex offender but maintained that his client understood the gravity of his actions.

Judge Bartfield highlighted that both girls came from troubled backgrounds, making them particularly susceptible to exploitation. The court also heard that Cameron had threatened the 13-year-old girl, warning her that harm would come to her family if she disclosed what had happened. Despite Cameron’s denials, both victims were compelled to give evidence at his trial, which caused them significant trauma, as noted by the judge.

As Cameron sat in the dock with his head in his hands, the court sentenced him to a decade behind bars. In addition to his imprisonment, he is required to sign the sex offender register for life. A Sexual Offences Prevention Order was also issued to safeguard his victims and other young girls from potential future harm.

Following the sentencing, PC Andy Teale of the Bradford District Safeguarding Unit commented on the case, stating, “Cameron attempted to gain the trust of his victims through association. He took advantage of their vulnerability, supplying them with both alcohol and drugs. These two young victims are now left to battle with the consequences of Cameron’s depraved actions. Today’s sentence really reflects the seriousness of this man’s behaviour and the threat that he posed to those around him. I sincerely hope that the outcome will now provide an opportunity for the victims to find some closure.”
