September 2016 Walsall pervert had 1,300 images and videos of children A Walsall man who had more than 1,300 indecent images of children and more than 290 videos was given a suspended prison sentence after being told by a judge his behaviour ‘creates demand’ for child sexual abuse images David Botley, of The Pinnacle, Gomer Street, Willenhall, had 1,235 class C images, 49 class B pictures and 12 of the most serious class A stored on a computer confiscated by police. He admitted possessing the images at Wolverhampton Crown Court and was given a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years. The 64-year-old also had 67 category A videos, 59 classed as B and 167 category C ones. Botley had attempted to wipe the images from his computer, a court heard, but officers managed to uncover them, alongside software which enabled him to download videos and search terms. Prosecuting, Mr Edward Soulsby said: “He had initially told police he only watched regular adult pornography but when police told him about the images they had found he responded ‘no comment’. “He has been looking at this material for a couple of years now, hence the large number of images police found despite his attempts to clear his history.” Judge Stephen Ward ordered that Botley carry out 150 hours of unpaid work, attend a sex offenders rehabilitation course, sign on the sex offenders register for 10 years and comply with a sexual harm prevention order, which allows police officers to check his computer history for the next 10 years. The judge told Botley: “When you look at images of children, you might think you are not doing any harm but you are. “These are real children and this is real abuse. He said: “You downloading these images creates a demand that means they continue to be made.”
