BASINGSTOKE MAN JAILED FOR 12 YEARS FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING CHILDREN
A man from Basingstoke has been jailed after being found guilty of child sexual abuse.
David Morison Barker was convicted by a jury on five counts of indecent assault affecting a minor.
He was found not guilty on one charge and no verdict was reached on two other counts.
Barker, who now lives on Cabus Nook Lane in Lancashire, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after the jury's verdict.
He is now 70 years old and was tried at Salisbury Crown Court, charged with abusing three children during the 1970s and 1980s in the South Ham and Popley districts.
Evidence presented during the trial earlier this month included an incident where Barker was playing hide and seek when he assaulted a boy.
The victim said that when he and Barker, who has since moved to Lancashire, hid under a bed in a storage space, Barker whispered, “This is what is preparing you to be an adult male, it’s our secret,” before sexually touching him.
