NOTTINGHAM MAN GETS 3 YEARS FOR KNIFE ATTACK ON EX-PARTNER
A 45-year-old intoxicated Nottingham man, David Anderson, thrust a knife into his ex-partner’s face in her kitchen after overpowering her and stating "you have pushed me too far." Nottingham Crown Court heard how Anderson, who is alcohol dependent, believed he was going to kill her as he initially held the blade to her throat and then sliced her above the eye with it.The victim described feeling "blood everywhere," was taken to QMC for treatment, and now bears a permanent reminder of the attack.
The court was told Anderson was previously on bail for attacking another victim with a chair in his flat before he, along with another man, assaulted that victim with punches.
He was sentenced to three years in prison.
Judge Julie Warburton stated, "She believed you were going to kill her, she can’t understand why someone she saw as a friend would do this to her.
You held the knife to her throat and then above her eyes and moved it slowly down, leaving her with a gaping wound and an eye gaping downwards and outwards." The offence occurred on December 29, 2024, in Cotgrave, after Anderson visited his former partner with cans of lager following a phone call about a football bet.
He dragged her from a sofa, got on top of her, and was petrified when he followed her into the kitchen, snatched her phone, stamped on it, and threw it in the sink.
He then held the knife threatening her life and slit her face.
A neighbour arrived, causing Anderson to leave before turning himself in the next day.
Anderson pleaded guilty to assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, threatening another with a bladed article, possession of a knife in public, and criminal damage.
He has 30 previous convictions for 42 offences, including assaults, battery, harassment, and breach of orders.
The judge also issued him a lifetime restraining order not to contact either victim.
