May 2011 Redditch sex offender jailed for 18 years A Worcestershire man has been jailed for 18 years for a catalogue of rape and child sex offences. Davey Kevin James, aged 42, of Arthur Street, Lakeside, Redditch, was sentenced on Monday for four charges of rape, six counts of gross indecency with a child and seven counts of indecently assaulting a child. James was also told at Worcester Crown Court that he will remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life at the end of his prison sentence. Judge Alistair McCreath said, on passing sentence, that James had shown no remorse and the victims had in effect been “re-victimised” by having to attend court and give evidence. He added that James had been in a position of trust but had carried out sustained abuse, including violence, over a period of years. A jury found James guilty of the charges on May 11 following a two-week trial. The defendant had denied all the offences. The sexual attacks took place over an 11-year period from 1988 to 1999, the court heard. An investigation began after one of his victims came forward in November 2007 followed by another the following year, with James charged in May 2009. Detective Constable Dave Jennings of Redditch CID, who led the investigation, said: “This was a particularly unpleasant and tortuous case. “The outcome is a triumph for justice.
