DAVE LEE TRAVIS ACCUSED OF HISTORIC SEXUAL OFFENCES
A London court was informed that former BBC Radio 1 DJ Dave Lee Travis was characterized as an "opportunist" sex offender who preyed on "vulnerable" young women. He is accused of assaulting 11 women at various venues, including the BBC and during pantomimes, between 1976 and 2008.
One victim, a 19-year-old woman, was reportedly "assaulted live on Top of the Pops" in 1978.
Travis, who is 68 and whose birth name is David Griffin, denies 13 charges of indecent assault and one of sexual assault.
The court was told he hosted the Radio 1 Breakfast show from 1978 to 1980 and was a frequent presence on Top of the Pops during the 70s and 80s.
He alleges that the victims are driven by greed and desire for media attention.
