A 32-year-old man named Daryl Young has been sentenced to prison following a series of disturbing criminal acts that took place in Belfast. The incident, described by authorities as a 'disgraceful episode of offending,' involved a violent confrontation with a young woman that left a lasting impact on all parties involved.

According to court reports, Daryl Young threatened the woman with a knife during the altercation. He also damaged her mobile phone, physically assaulted her, and refused to allow her to leave his flat. This incident occurred in April 2021 and has since been the subject of legal proceedings, highlighting the severity of Young's actions.

In addition to this, the court heard about another disturbing incident involving Young, who is originally from Co Antrim but has been associated with Belfast. Prosecutors revealed that Young had sent a threatening message via Facebook, in which he warned he would burn out his ex-partner. As part of this threat, he also sent a picture of her underwear on fire, further demonstrating his intent to intimidate and harm.

Furthermore, Young allegedly made threats to his own mother, warning her that he intended to kill both his former girlfriend and himself. These threats added to the gravity of his criminal behavior, prompting serious concern from law enforcement and the court.

Young, who has no fixed address, faces multiple charges, including criminal damage, threats to kill, and threats to damage property. During the court proceedings, a judge decided to adjourn his application for bail, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive treatment plan for his drug and alcohol issues before any release could be considered.

It was also revealed that Young's mother contacted police on September 20, expressing her worries about what he had allegedly told her. Following her concerns, law enforcement officials tracked him down and arrested him at a railway station in Antrim, bringing him into custody to face the charges against him.
