In a case that has shocked the community of Clacton, Darren Thorne, aged 37, has been handed down an 18-month prison sentence after a police operation uncovered a disturbing collection of nearly 900 indecent images depicting children on his electronic devices.

The investigation was initiated following a police raid at Thorne's residence in Clacton in May 2016.

During the search, authorities discovered a significant amount of illicit material stored on his electronic gadgets, which included a wide range of images categorized under the most serious levels of abuse, specifically categories A, B, and C.

The severity of the material found was a key factor in the case, as it contained some of the most disturbing and explicit images of child exploitation.

Thorne was taken into custody and subsequently faced multiple charges related to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children.

Demonstrating remorse, Thorne pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.
