DARREN SHAW SEXUALLY ASSAULTS FRIEND'S GIRLFRIEND IN BOURNEMOUTH - SENTENCED AT BOURNEMOUTH CROWN COURT
In a disturbing incident that took place in Bournemouth, Darren Martyn Shaw, aged 35 and residing on Talbot Road, was brought before Bournemouth Crown Court to face serious criminal charges.The court proceedings culminated on Monday, March 22, after Shaw pleaded guilty to an offence of assault by penetration, which he had admitted during an earlier hearing at the same court.
The victim, an 18-year-old woman at the time, was out in Bournemouth town centre on the evening of Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
She was out with a group of friends, enjoying what was supposed to be a night of socializing and entertainment.
The night took a turn when, in the early hours of January 2, her group encountered her boyfriend and Darren Shaw, who was known to her boyfriend but she had not met before.
Following their night out, the group returned to the victim’s residence.
The young woman went to sleep, unaware of what was to come.
It was around 7 a.m.
when she awoke to a distressing and unwelcome sight — she found Darren Shaw sexually assaulting her.
The assault was a shocking violation of her personal boundaries and trust.
Realizing what had happened, the victim immediately woke her boyfriend and disclosed the assault.
The police were promptly called to the scene.
Officers arrived at the address and took Shaw into custody.
The investigation confirmed the victim’s account, leading to Shaw’s arrest and subsequent prosecution.
As a result of his guilty plea and the evidence presented, Darren Shaw was sentenced to two years in prison for the offence of assault by penetration.
