DARREN PAISLEY AND SERENA SIBSON BARTRAM FROM BARMTRAM SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IN TELFORD AND SHROPSHIRE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, a man and a woman from the Bartram area in Telford, Shropshire, have been sentenced to a combined total of 13 years in prison for their brutal treatment of two young boys.The offenders, Darren Paisley, aged 39, and Serena Sibson-Bartram, aged 34, were found guilty of subjecting the children to severe abuse, including physical and verbal mistreatment, as well as denying them basic necessities such as food and water.
Their crimes came to light in May 2018 when concerns were raised by the boys' school about their welfare.
An extensive investigation conducted by police and social services uncovered a horrifying pattern of abuse that spanned over four years.
The investigation revealed that Paisley and Sibson-Bartram had subjected the boys to a campaign of cruelty, which included forcing them to stand in 'stress positions' for prolonged periods, sometimes lasting several hours.
This form of physical and psychological torment was part of a broader pattern of neglect and mistreatment.
The court proceedings took place at Shrewsbury Crown Court, where both defendants faced multiple charges.
Darren Paisley was convicted of four counts of child neglect and received a sentence of seven and a half years in prison.
Serena Sibson-Bartram, also found guilty of four counts of child neglect, was sentenced to six and a half years behind bars.
The sentences reflect the severity of their actions and the impact on the victims.
Additionally, a third individual, Samantha Paisley, aged 35 and also from Telford, pleaded guilty to child neglect charges.
Her sentencing has been postponed, and further proceedings are expected to determine her punishment.
