DARREN LUBY FROM EDINBURGH SENTENCED AFTER SEX ASSAULT AT CC BLOOMS BAR
A man identified as Darren Luby, aged 37, has been officially registered as a sex offender following a conviction related to a sexual assault incident that took place in Edinburgh.The assault occurred at CC Blooms bar, located on Greenside Place, a popular venue in the heart of the city, on the evening of January 5, 2020.
According to court records, Luby, who resides at Forthview Crescent in Wallyford, was accused of inappropriately touching a man’s groin over his clothing during the incident.
Despite his denial of the charges, the case proceeded to trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
The trial concluded last Tuesday, resulting in a conviction for Luby.
During the court proceedings, Sheriff Peter McCormack decided to defer the sentencing to allow for the preparation of social work reports, which are often used to assess the defendant’s background and potential risk factors.
In the meantime, Luby has been placed on the sex offenders’ register on an interim basis, meaning he is subject to certain legal restrictions and monitoring while the final sentencing is being determined.
