BRUTE STOMPED ON WIFE SO HARD SHE WAS LEFT WITH LUNG BRUISING, COURT HEARS
A man repeatedly stomped on his wife after pushing her to the ground following a disagreement at a pub.He caused injuries including internal bruising to her lungs.
Darren Lewis, aged 52, and his wife had been at a pub in Knighton, Powys, on December 17, 2024, when an argument occurred, and he left alone for his home.
Shortly afterward, the victim arrived at his flat, and another dispute ensued.
The court was told that Lewis pushed his wife to the floor, causing her to hit the back of her head.
He then repeatedly stamped on her left side of her chest and torso.
During the attack, neighbors heard her screams and feared for her safety, prompting them to call the police.
As a result, she sustained bruising to her lungs, tenderness to her head, abrasions and bruising to her neck, cuts to her chest and abdomen, swelling in her ankle, and soft tissue injuries.
Lewis denied the charges but was found guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation.
He has prior convictions for affray, battery, and possession of a bladed weapon.
He was sentenced to 22 months in prison.
The victim described experiencing intense emotional distress, fear, nightmares, and feeling unsafe.
The judge emphasized the enduring effects of domestic violence, and the court underscored the severity of the assault and the emotional harm caused.
