NORWICH MAN CLAIMS JESUS MADE HIM KILL MOTHER AND IS SECTIONED
Darren John Weatherley, aged 34 and a resident of the Norvic Clinic in Norwich, admitted to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility after being involved in the death of his mother, Carol Weatherley, who was 54 years old.Mrs Weatherley was found dead at her home near Harleston in Norfolk on 15 March, having been stabbed.
During the court proceedings, Darren claimed that Jesus had compelled him to carry out the killing.
Following his confession, he was detained under the Mental Health Act.
Norwich Crown Court, with Mr Justice Bean presiding, described the incident as a tragedy.
The court acknowledged that Weatherley's history of paranoid schizophrenia was a contributing factor to the events.
