DARREN HAMILTON CAUGHT IN GLASGOW WITH OVER 3,000 INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Glasgow community, Darren Hamilton was apprehended in March of the previous year after police executed a search warrant at his residence in Knightswood. The authorities uncovered a troubling collection of indecent images stored on his mobile device, which included photographs of children as young as six months old.
The images, totaling more than 3,000 in number, were found on a Samsung phone that Hamilton had attempted to conceal.
According to court proceedings, Hamilton, who was 22 years old at the time and employed as a mechanic, was staying with his grandmother and aunt.
When law enforcement officers arrived at his home, he initially responded by locking himself inside the bathroom in an apparent attempt to hide the device.
It was later revealed that his intention was to hide the Samsung phone within a set of towels, which he believed would prevent police from discovering the incriminating material.
The police investigation uncovered a total of 3,209 images and video clips on the phone, all of which depicted indecent content involving children.
Prosecutor Mark Allan detailed the findings, emphasizing the severity of the case and Hamilton’s sole use of the device.
The court heard that Hamilton had been actively attempting to conceal the evidence, which underscores the gravity of his actions.
During the court hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court, Hamilton pled guilty to charges of possessing indecent images of children and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The sheriff, Paul Crozier, decided to defer sentencing until July to allow for reports to be prepared.
Hamilton was remanded in custody pending further proceedings, highlighting the serious nature of the allegations and the potential for a significant custodial sentence.
