DARREN HAMILTON FROM GLASGOW JAILED FOR POSSESSING OVER 3,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN KNIGHTSWOOD
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Darren Hamilton, a 22-year-old resident of Glasgow, was sentenced to 32 months in prison after being found guilty of possessing a large collection of indecent images of children. The incident came to light in March of the previous year when police executed a search warrant at his home in the Knightswood area of Glasgow.
During the police operation, officers discovered that Hamilton had attempted to conceal a Samsung mobile phone inside a set of towels.
The phone was found to contain a staggering total of 3,209 images and video clips depicting children as young as six months old engaged in explicit acts.
The severity of the material found on the device underscored the gravity of the offense.
Hamilton, who was staying with his grandmother and aunt at the time, initially tried to evade detection by locking himself inside the bathroom when law enforcement officers arrived.
Despite his efforts to hide the evidence, the police managed to recover the phone and conduct a thorough examination.
Prosecutor Mark Allan outlined the details of the case in court, emphasizing that Hamilton was the sole user of the device and had intended to hide it from authorities.
The court heard that Hamilton pleaded guilty to charges of possessing indecent images and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Glasgow Sheriff Court, presided over by Sheriff Paul Crozier, sentenced Hamilton to a prison term of 32 months, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes.
The case has once again highlighted the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of child exploitation material in the Glasgow area.
