Consett Elswick Child Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Consett and Elswick, Darren Alderson, aged 43, was convicted of heinous sexual offences committed against a young boy. The incident took place over a period of twelve months when Alderson, who was unemployed at the time, was entrusted with babysitting the five-year-old victim. The court heard that Alderson, formerly residing at Britannia Court in Elswick, Tyne & Wear, engaged in a series of sickening acts of indecency against the child.

According to court records, the abuse began when Alderson was 24 years old. During the trial at Newcastle Crown Court, it was revealed that he would strip off and force the young boy to do the same, then proceed with sexual touching and molestation. These assaults were repeated multiple times over the course of a year, causing significant trauma to the victim.

When authorities arrested Alderson, he denied all allegations, refusing to admit any wrongdoing. This denial compelled the now adult victim to give evidence against him, providing crucial testimony that contributed to his conviction. Throughout the proceedings, Alderson showed no remorse for his actions, further aggravating the severity of his crimes.

The jury, after careful deliberation, returned a unanimous verdict of guilty on the first count of indecent assault. On the second count, they reached a majority verdict of 10:2 in favor of guilt. The judge sentenced Alderson to a total of three years and three months in prison, with the stipulation that he must serve half of that sentence.

In addition to his imprisonment, Alderson was ordered to register as a sex offender for life. A lifelong restraining order was also imposed to prevent any contact with the victim or further offenses. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the judicial system to protect vulnerable children and hold offenders accountable for their heinous actions.
