DARIUSZ ALEXANDER CAUGHT PLEASURING HIMSELF ON LONDON'S HAMSTEAD HEATH
In a shocking incident that has brought disgrace to the Metropolitan Police, Detective Constable Dariusz Alexander, aged 49, was found guilty of engaging in inappropriate conduct at Hampstead Heath, a well-known public park in North London. The incident occurred in June 2023, when Alexander was caught by two of his colleagues, who were conducting an unrelated search in the area, engaging in acts of public indecency without realizing they were observing a fellow officer.
According to prosecutors, the officers spotted Alexander with his trousers down, performing a sexual act.
Despite being instructed three times to cease his actions, Alexander continued, prompting the officers to intervene.
The arresting officer, whose identity remains confidential, expressed his shock and disappointment upon witnessing the scene.
He recounted that he observed Alexander making eye contact with him while walking through what is known as a gay cruising area within Hampstead Heath, and misinterpreted the look as one of mutual desire.
At the time of the incident, Alexander was off-duty but still attached to the Metropolitan Police's Operations Command.
He was detained on March 18 and later appeared before Stratford Magistrates’ Court.
During the hearing, Alexander denied a charge of public indecency, claiming that he believed the officer was attracted to him and that he thought the officer was a gay man who shared his interests.
He also stated that he did not hear the officer telling him to stop because he was listening to music through headphones.
Judge Anthony Woodcock found Alexander guilty, despite his claims, and sentenced him to a six-month conditional discharge.
The judge expressed confidence that Alexander would not reoffend but emphasized that the guilty verdict was based on the evidence presented.
The officers involved in the arrest had been conducting an unrelated search when they observed Alexander with his trousers down.
Prosecutor Joe Mensah explained that one officer saw Alexander performing a sexual act and instructed him to put his clothes away.
When Alexander did not immediately comply, the officer repeated the command and produced his police card, which prompted Alexander to stop and become apologetic.
The officers then called for backup, and Alexander was taken into custody in an area frequented by members of the public.
During his police interview, Alexander admitted that he had come to the UK from Poland, believing that British society was more accepting of homosexuality.
He explained that he went to Hampstead Heath to relax and escape the stresses of his job, but he noticed a man in his 30s staring at him intently.
Alexander described the area as a known location where LGBTQ individuals often meet for sexual encounters.
He insisted that he would not have exposed himself if there had been more people around.
In his statement, Alexander revealed that he found the other officer attractive and believed there was mutual interest.
He claimed that he exposed himself to signal his desire for a sexual encounter, but he expressed regret for misreading the situation.
He stated, “I thought he felt the same way about me.
I couldn’t hear what he was saying.
I had my headphones on.
I feel terribly embarrassed that I misread the situation.” Following the court proceedings, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that Alexander had been suspended from duty and that misconduct proceedings would be initiated.
In addition to the conditional discharge, he was ordered to pay £625 in prosecution costs and a £26 victim surcharge, marking a significant blemish on his career and reputation.
