DANNY SIVYER FROM TRURO SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In June 2022, a disturbing case involving a man from Truro, identified as Danny Sivyer, came to light through a court hearing at Truro Crown Court. Sivyer, aged 23, was brought before the court to face multiple serious charges related to the exploitation of a vulnerable young girl. The court proceedings revealed a deeply troubling pattern of grooming, manipulation, and sexual abuse that spanned several weeks and involved a minor with significant developmental challenges.

According to court records, the victim was a 13-year-old girl with a mental age estimated to be around eight or nine years old. During police interviews, she was described as having a notably childish demeanor and innocence that made her particularly susceptible to manipulation. The investigation uncovered that Sivyer had initially contacted the girl in October 2021 through an anonymous chat room application. Under the false pretense of being a 16-year-old boy, Sivyer engaged her in conversation, encouraging her to use FaceTime for further communication.

However, the girl soon realized that Sivyer was not the age he claimed to be, as he admitted to being 23. Despite this, Sivyer continued to communicate with her, and their conversations quickly turned explicit. Court evidence, including chat logs, showed Sivyer expressing affection and love for the girl, while simultaneously making frequent sexual comments and references to acts he wanted to perform on her or with her. The prosecution highlighted that Sivyer persistently requested explicit images from the girl, who later confided to police that she felt uncomfortable with these demands.

As their online relationship progressed, Sivyer obtained naked images of the girl. The court was shown evidence of explicit FaceTime calls, during which Sivyer asked her to masturbate and perform various sexual acts, including using household objects. The girl testified that she felt uncomfortable with some of his requests and refused to comply with certain demands. Additionally, Sivyer discussed rape fantasies with her, although the court clarified that these discussions did not amount to threats.

Further disturbing evidence revealed that Sivyer sent videos and images of himself masturbating to the girl, along with pictures of other children engaged in sexual activities. Police investigations uncovered that Sivyer had distributed highly sexualized images of the girl to other individuals via the messaging platform Telegram. Despite the girl blocking Sivyer multiple times on the chat site, he repeatedly created new accounts to re-establish contact and continue his grooming efforts. She also told him to stop “forcing” her to do things, but Sivyer persisted in his manipulative behavior, expressing a desire to run away together, take her virginity, and obtain more images of her.

The court also found that Sivyer possessed and distributed indecent images of children, including boys and girls as young as four years old. The evidence presented showed a pattern of severe sexual misconduct and exploitation.

Judge Anna Richardson sentenced Sivyer to a total of five years and eight months in prison. The judge emphasized that Sivyer would serve at least half of this sentence before being eligible for release on license. In her remarks, Judge Richardson condemned Sivyer’s actions, stating, “You were in possession of a number of indecent images and, on Telegram, distributed them. Extremely young children as young as four were involved. So far as your relationship with [the girl] can be concerned, this took place between October 22 and November 10, 2021. You knew that she was under 18, she was in fact 13. You chatted online and you initially lied about your age telling you were 16. You bombarded her with requests for images and videos to the point that in one message she told you to stop forcing her. She said she feels scared of men and boys both online and in person, including members of her own family. The offences you committed caused her huge psychological distress. You are remorseful, you expressed regret and you recognise you’ve traumatised her.”
