MAN THREATENED TO HURT CHILD DURING POLICE STAND OFF
Danny Bryan, aged 29 from Chelmsford, was sentenced to two years in prison after admitting to charges of child cruelty and assaulting a woman in her twenties.Emergency services responded to a disturbance on Lupin Drive early on Thursday, August 22, following reports concerning a woman and a child.
Upon arrival, police discovered a man holding a baby, threatening to harm the infant and causing distress to the child.
Law enforcement spent over an hour engaging in negotiations with Bryan to ensure the child’s safety.
Once the situation was under control, Bryan was detained.
Fortunately, the baby did not sustain any serious injuries.
Bryan pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting a child to cause unnecessary suffering or injury and to assault by beating.
He also admitted to criminal damage and two counts of assaulting emergency workers after spitting at officers during arrest and urinating in a custody cell.
He appeared before Chelmsford Crown Court on Wednesday, November 20, where he was sentenced.
An additional 13 months were added to run concurrently for the other offences, and he received a further two months for breaching a community order.
