DANNY BRADY OF LONDON CONVICTED OF CHILD SEX OFFENCES NEAR RAF BRIZE NORTON

In August 2021, a disturbing case involving Danny Brady, a man with a troubling history of sexual offences, came to light in Oxford Crown Court.

Brady, aged 63 and known to have served time previously for historic sex crimes, faced serious allegations of grooming and assaulting young boys in the early 1980s.

According to court proceedings, Brady, who was then in his twenties and using the alias ‘Danny B,’ engaged in heinous acts in a woodland play area situated on the outskirts of RAF Brize Norton, near Carterton.

The victims, two young boys, were lured into a trap of manipulation and exploitation through promises of toys, sweets, and cash, which Brady used as bait to gain their trust and compliance.

Jurors heard that Brady employed psychological grooming tactics, asking one of the boys if he ‘wanted to be a big man and have a big man’s secret,’ a phrase indicative of his attempt to normalize and conceal his abusive behavior.

The court was told that Brady exposed himself to the boys and coerced them into performing sexual acts on him, further emphasizing his predatory tactics.

Prosecutor Kim Preston described the grooming process to the jury, stating, “There was this constant reward, promises of sweets, toys, treats, secrets.

A whole picture of this boy being groomed and normalised into believing that what this man was doing with him was alright.” Brady, a resident of Southwark, London, vehemently denied all allegations, which included claims that he had engaged in acts of self-exposure in front of the boys and had coerced them into sexual acts.

However, during the trial, his legal team requested that five charges be reconsidered, leading to a plea change.

In a significant development, Brady admitted guilt to four counts of indecency with a child and one count of indecent assault in front of the jury.

The court continued to hear evidence on the remaining three charges.

Last month, the jury swiftly reached guilty verdicts on two counts of indecency with a child and one count of indecent assault involving a male, with the decision taking just under two hours.

Following the verdicts, Judge Lamb lifted reporting restrictions, allowing the public to learn of the case’s outcome.

Brady’s sentencing is scheduled for September at Oxford Crown Court.

During a previous hearing, Judge Lamb warned Brady to prepare for a prison sentence, emphasizing the gravity of his crimes.

She stated, “These are serious matters and they carry a significant prison sentence.

I don’t want you to go from here thinking it’s going to be anything other than prison.

I want you to use the time to make sure you’ve got your arrangements in order.” Brady’s criminal history includes an eight-year sentence handed down in 1997 at Winchester Crown Court for indecency charges, a sentence that was later reduced on appeal.

He remains a registered sex offender, and his case underscores the ongoing concerns about safeguarding children from known predators in the UK.
