COVENTRY WOMAN JAILED FOR IMPERSONATION AND ASSAULT ON ELDERLY WOMAN RESULTING IN HER DEATH
This individual, Danielle O'Neill, is responsible for a grave crime involving impersonating police to infiltrate and attack an elderly woman.According to reports, she approached Mrs.
Philomena Keane at her flat in Coventry on June 27, 2015, at around 4 am, claiming to be a police officer.
She then proceeded to punch Mrs.
Keane, who was 75 years old and reliant on an oxygen supply, in the face and robbed her.
The assault was brutal, and Mrs.
Keane suffered a stroke the following day, which contributed to her death six weeks later in hospital.
Her family recounts the incident with pain and anger, stating that Danielle O'Neill's actions and subsequent behavior in court, including a lack of remorse, were deeply hurtful.
Mrs.
Keane’s daughter expressed her anguish, noting that her mother was scared to return to her home after the attack and that she never got to see O'Neill face justice for her crimes.
O'Neill was convicted of robbery at Warwick Crown Court and initially sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison, though prosecutors did not establish a direct link between her attack and Mrs.
Keane’s death.
The family regards her sentence as insufficient, especially given the severity of her actions.
O'Neill's crime involved premeditated deception, assault, and theft, and her actions had tragic consequences for Mrs.
Keane and her family.
