DANIEL TURNER AND SHOCKING CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN ESSEX
A man identified as Daniel Turner has been convicted and sentenced for serious offences related to child sexual exploitation and indecent images in Essex.Turner, 38 years old, was found guilty of attempting to communicate with a minor for sexual purposes, attempting to induce a child to watch a sexual act, and possessing indecent images of children.
The case unraveled after an investigation that began with a sting operation by Protecting Children Online UK.
An undercover officer created a profile under the alias of Paige on a website intended for adults, which was used to lure potential offenders.
Turner was identified as a user who initiated contact in October 2017.
Prosecutor Anthony Moore explained that Turner, residing on Gainsborough Avenue in Tilbury, Essex, engaged with the decoy under the pretext of forming a romantic relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
Turner’s interaction with the decoy, who immediately identified herself as a 14-year-old schoolgirl, was alarmingly intense.
Over a period, he sent more than 300 messages, along with explicit photographs of his genitals and videos of himself masturbating.
The court heard that Turner even suggested a meeting in West Yorkshire, specifically proposing locations in London and Leeds.
During conversations on WhatsApp, Turner displayed a disturbing fixation on the girl’s clothing, asking if she wore a skirt and tights to school, and showing particular interest in the color pink underwear.
He explicitly expressed his desire to have sexual relations with her.
The police moved swiftly to arrest Turner in 2020.
During the investigation, his phone was seized and revealed a disturbing collection of images—45 indecent photographs classified as Category C—depicting girls aged between ten and thirteen.
Further examination of his device uncovered conversations involving other minors, including a girl purportedly living in Portugal who was 12 years old.
Turner requested her to send sexualized images of herself in a skirt and pink underwear.
Subsequent messages from Turner also included exchanges with someone claiming to be a “Glasgow mum,” involving images of what she described as a nine-year-old girl.
Turner’s response was explicit, asking if the girl was wearing pink knickers and expressing interest in receiving more such images.
His behavior demonstrated a persistent pattern of seeking out young children for sexual purposes.
Throughout the proceedings, Turner admitted to multiple charges.
His defense barrister, Lydia Pearce, highlighted that he had no previous convictions and described his home life as stable, with his mother caring for him.
He was employed working night shifts at an Asda supermarket.
Despite his pleas to the court to avoid an immediate jail sentence, acknowledging that the interactions with the decoys were attempts rather than real contacts, the judge emphasized the seriousness of his actions.
Judge Jonathan Rose condemned his behavior, stating that Turner's communication with the decoys was an attempt to “wheedle out men like you” and that it was deeply disturbing to see his repeated interest in young girls and particular fixation on pink underwear.
The judge sentenced Turner to 18 months in prison.
In addition to the custodial sentence, he imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will last for ten years, and Turner will also be required to register as a sex offender for a decade.
The case serves as a sobering reminder of the ongoing threat posed by individuals like Daniel Turner, who exploit online platforms and manipulate decoys to pursue their compulsions.
Authorities continue to prioritize such cases to protect vulnerable children from harm.
