SOUTHEND OFFENDER DANIEL TAYLOR SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR SEXUAL CRIMES
A sexual offender from Southend, Daniel Taylor, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting to multiple serious crimes.
He pleaded guilty at Basildon Crown Court last September to sexually abusing two girls, with the judge describing his crimes as “dreadful” and “appalling” and noting that they are “hard to believe.” Taylor, aged 42, was also found to be in possession of graphic sexual fantasies about children, stored in password-protected notes on his mobile phone, which police discovered after his arrest following a victim’s report.
He had also shared indecent images of his victim via an online chat service.
The court heard that Taylor had attempted to claim the abuse was consensual in a plea deal, which was rejected by prosecutors.
The judge imposed an extended sentence, stating he was concerned Taylor would pose a “significant risk” if released, and ordered him to be under police monitoring for life, barred from working with children, and subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The victims spoke of their suffering, with one diagnosed with PTSD and expressing ongoing fears of Taylor’s freedom, while another described feeling “useless” and anxious after the abuse.
Taylor’s actions and the discovery of disturbing notes and images led to a lengthy imprisonment and strict supervision orders, condemning his conduct as “dark and bleak.”
