MAN JAILED FOR AT LEAST 29 YEARS OVER HOUSE FIRE THAT KILLED FAMILY
Daniel Allen, aged 33 and originally from the Midlands in England, received a minimum prison term of 29 years following a deadly house fire in County Fermanagh in 2018, which caused multiple fatalities. He admitted guilt to the murder of three family members—Denise Gossett, her son Roman, and her daughter Sabrina—and also to manslaughter of Denise through a suicide pact.
The fire also resulted in the death of Sabrina’s 15-month-old daughter Morgana Quinn.
The judge characterized Allen as 'highly dangerous and disturbing,' highlighting the violent nature of his conduct.
Among those who perished were Denise, aged 45; her 16-year-old son Roman; her 19-year-old daughter Sabrina; and Sabrina’s young daughter Morgana.
Denise was alive at the fire’s onset but died from smoke inhalation.
During the court proceedings, images of Allen were displayed, and emotional testimonies were given by relatives.
One described the loss as, 'My beautiful mother was taken from me.
My younger brother and sister, Roman and Sabrina, along with Sabrina’s baby Morgan, are all gone,' describing the scene as 'horrific and cruel.' The court ordered that Allen would be ineligible for parole until at least 2047.
It was also noted that Allen had been living with the family prior to the tragedy, having initially met Denise online and moved with her from Scotland to Ireland before the incident.
