DANIEL PYBUS FROM SOUTH SHIELDS ESCAPES JAIL AFTER SEX WITH UNDERAGE GIRL
In April 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving Daniel Pybus, a resident of South Shields, who was involved in a serious sexual offence against a teenage girl. The incident took place in South Shields, where Pybus, then 21 years old, engaged in a predatory act that has since garnered significant attention from the local community and legal authorities alike.
According to court proceedings, Pybus met the underage girl in South Shields and proceeded to manipulate her by giving her vodka to drink.
Prosecutor Anne Richardson explained to Newcastle Crown Court that Pybus was aware of the girl’s age and that she was still attending school at the time of the incident.
The court was told that the girl was subjected to a game of truth and dare on Pybus’s phone, which escalated into a dangerous situation.
By approximately 9 pm, the girl was heavily intoxicated, to the point where she was unable to care for herself or resist further advances.
Court documents detailed that Pybus then removed his clothes, and the girl was found lying on a bed, unable to physically push him away or defend herself.
The victim later told police that she felt helpless and unable to resist his actions during the assault.
After the act, Pybus dressed himself and left the scene, heading to the train station.
The girl, overwhelmed with panic and distress, began to cry and was left to process what had happened.
The emotional and psychological impact on her was acknowledged during the court proceedings, with authorities emphasizing the severity of the offence and its repercussions on her schooling and well-being.
In sentencing, Recorder Tony Hawks acknowledged Pybus’s age and lack of prior convictions but emphasized that such mitigating factors did little to lessen the gravity of the crime.
Pybus was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, meaning he would not serve time immediately but would be under supervision and subject to conditions.
The judge described the behaviour as disgraceful and noted the case was a difficult one to judge, highlighting the serious nature of the offence.
Furthermore, Pybus was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register and was issued an unlimited Sexual Harm Prevention Order, restricting his future conduct and ensuring ongoing monitoring.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who exploit their positions of trust and manipulate vulnerable minors in South Shields.
