DANIEL NORTON FROM CANNOCK JAILED FOR GROOMING CHILDREN THROUGH SNAPCHAT IN BOGUS CLOTHING GIVEAWAY SCHEME
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Cannock, Daniel Norton, a 31-year-old man, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after admitting to multiple child sex offences. The sentencing took place at Stafford Crown Court, where Norton was handed a sentence of 13 years and six months behind bars.According to court records and police reports, Norton pleaded guilty to three counts of inciting a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity. Additionally, he admitted to one count of encouraging a child aged between 13 and 15 to participate in sexual acts. Staffordshire Police confirmed that Norton also confessed to a separate charge of blackmailing his victims.
The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of exploitation carried out by Norton through the social media platform Snapchat. He created fake accounts under the guise of offering free clothing giveaways, a tactic designed to lure young users into his trap. Once contact was established, Norton would request the children to send images of their measurements, claiming it was necessary for the clothing giveaway.
However, his intentions were far more sinister. Norton would threaten to distribute these images online if the children did not comply with his demands. This coercive tactic escalated as he blackmailed victims into sending explicit images and videos directly to him, further exploiting their vulnerability and trust.
The police investigation uncovered the extent of Norton’s malicious activities, which exploited the innocence of underage Snapchat users. His actions have been described as depraved and predatory, leading to his conviction and subsequent imprisonment. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by online grooming and the importance of safeguarding children from such predators.
