DANIEL NORTON OF CANNOCK SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS AND SIX MONTHS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN STAFFORD
A condemned paedophile from Cannock has been sentenced to 13 years and six months in prison after admitting to multiple child sex offences.Daniel Norton, aged 31, appeared at Stafford Crown Court on Monday, February 28, where he pleaded guilty to three counts of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and one count of encouraging a child aged 13 to 15 to participate in sexual activities.
Additionally, Staffordshire Police confirmed he admitted one count of blackmail.
The court was told that Norton targeted underage Snapchat users by creating fake accounts claiming to be offering free clothing.
He would ask victims to send images of their measurements and then threaten to publicly share these images online.
Using this tactic, Norton coerced victims into sharing explicit images and videos directly with him.
Sergeant Natalie Waldrun of Staffordshire Police’s Operation Safenet commented: "Norton tricked and deceived unsuspecting girls into sharing explicit images online and has caused significant emotional stress to those involved." She added, "Staffordshire Police would like to commend the victims for their bravery in coming forward and assisting officers with the investigation." She expressed her satisfaction that justice has been served and emphasized that the sentence underscores ongoing efforts by specialized police operations to combat sexual offending on social media, especially offenders exploiting the platform to victimise minors.
