November 2007 Riding school rapist locked up after 20 years A FORMER Tottenham riding school manager has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for a number of sexual offences against eight children. Daniel Lambert, 61, is said to have used his position at the Risley Riding Stables in Bedwell Road to entice young girls to his yard. In January 2005 police in Hornsey received an allegation of historical sexual assault which they were able to link to a previous allegation made against Lambert in 2000. A full investigation was then launched by Haringey’s Child Abuse Investigation Team. As a result an additional seven victims came forward, all making allegations of sexual abuse against Lambert. The alleged incidents were said to have taken place between 1983 and 1993 at the Risley Riding Stables, during which time all the victims would have been aged between nine and 14. Lambert appeared at Wood Green Crown Court yesterday charged with four counts of rape of a female child under 16, one count of attempted rape of a female child under 13, three counts of gross indecency with a female child and 13 counts of indecent assault of a female child under 13 years. Detective Constable Paula Ray from the Met’s Child Abuse Investigation Command, who headed the investigation said: “This is an historic case going back over twenty years. The verdict and the sentence are a reflection of the courage of the eight women who have given evidence. They have spoken out for themselves and for all the other possible victims who did not wish to be involved in the trial for varied reasons. “We take all allegations of rape and sexual assault extremely seriously regardless of how long ago the offences occurred. “I would also like take this opportunity to urge any other individuals who may have been effected by the actions of Daniel Lambert to call 020 8345 2246 . All calls will be treated confidentially.” Lambert will remain of the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
