PETERBOROUGH MAN JAILED FOR STALKING EX-ABUSE VICTIM
A man with a previous conviction for domestic abuse has been reimprisoned for stalking his former partner. In 2023, Daniel Findlay was sentenced to nearly three years but was released the previous September.
Shortly after his release, authorities reported that he reached out to the victim from an unrecognized phone number, which caused her significant fear when she heard his voice.
The 43-year-old, residing on Park Farm Way in Peterborough, was later sentenced by Cambridge Crown Court to an additional eight years behind bars.
Findlay persistently called and messaged her, hinting at plans to visit her residence or wait nearby.
Investigators observed in one message that he appeared to be monitoring her, with a comment like, “Are you serious, you're nipping off somewhere before you go home?” To avoid further contact, the woman altered her routine, stopped answering calls from unknown numbers, and reported the incident to police three months later.
During a police interview, Findlay denied reaching out, claiming the victim had sent the messages herself.
He admitted to the stalking but was convicted of causing serious alarm, distress, harassment, and violating a restraining order.
Detective Constable Jake Boreham-Dennis commented, “Findlay blatantly disregarded his restraining order and made efforts to make the victim’s life miserable.
We encourage anyone experiencing similar behavior to report it immediately.
We treat stalking offenses with utmost seriousness.”
