DANIEL DELOOZE AND HIS SHOCKING CRIME IN MANCHESTER AND WARRINGTON

In the early hours of a morning in Manchester, a man named Daniel Delooze unlawfully entered a young mother’s home through an unlocked door, setting into motion a series of terrifying events that would leave a lasting impact on her life.

The victim, a mother living in Warrington, was asleep at her residence when she was startled awake to find Delooze standing beside her bed.

Without warning, he proceeded to strangle her, rendering her unconscious.

During this brutal assault, she could hear him rambling incoherent words, with her only understanding being that he mentioned “kill” amidst the chaos.

Fortunately, her children, who were also in the house, were asleep at the time.

One of her children was even in the same room as her while the attack was ongoing, adding an extra layer of horror to the ordeal.

Once the victim had fallen unconscious due to the strangulation, Delooze allegedly engaged in sexual acts with her.

The exact nature of this part of the assault remains somewhat unclear, but it compounded the trauma inflicted upon her.

When she regained consciousness around 6 am, she was overwhelmed by a staggering number of injuries—more than 20 visible wounds—spread across her neck, jaw, chest, arms, and legs.

Despite her injuries and the confusion surrounding her attack, she had no idea who her attacker was at the time.

Law enforcement quickly identified evidence linking Delooze to the assault.

DNA samples taken from the victim’s pyjama bottoms, duvet, and a child’s top stored in an open divan drawer confirmed his involvement.

Earlier, police investigations revealed that Delooze had traveled from his home in Wigan to the Warrington area, where the attack occurred.

CCTV footage played a crucial role in the investigation, capturing a hooded man walking past the victim’s house around 2 am.

The footage depicted him smoking and drinking outside without attempting to hide his presence, carrying a rucksack, and then walking toward the house before disappearing from camera view.

The surveillance images allowed authorities to piece together a timeline of the attacker’s movements, estimate his height at approximately 5 feet 9 inches, and track his departure route.

When arrested, Delooze claimed to police that he had been at home in Hindley with his partner and their child on the night of the incident, providing an explanation for the presence of his DNA—though the details remain confidential due to legal restrictions.

During the trial at Liverpool Crown Court, Delooze denied inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and sexual assault.

Instead, he was convicted only of the lesser charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Prosecutor Simon Parry detailed the aftermath of the attack, noting that the woman, bewildered and shaken, immediately sought medical attention and reported the incident to police.

A professional at a sexual assault referral centre examined her, confirming that her injuries were consistent with non-fatal strangulation and marked by a significant degree of violence.

The victim shared her harrowing experience in a victim impact statement, describing the incident as “horrendous” and expressing her fear for her safety in her own home.

She said, “What really took place that night might remain unclear for the rest of my life.

I can't help but think that I could easily have died as a result of this incident.

It's difficult to comprehend.

I’m not sure how I will manage on my own in the house with the children.

I will be terrified—especially during the evenings.

I want to wake up from it all, I want it all to be a nightmare.” Her words underscored the profound trauma she continues to endure, describing the attack as “unprovoked” and “truly horrendous.” Delooze, who has a history of prior convictions including assault causing actual bodily harm in 2010, maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings.

His legal representative, Lloyd Morgan, argued that there was another side to his client, who had been described by acquaintances as “trustworthy and honest.” The presiding judge, Judge Brian Cummings, QC, emphasized the gravity of the crime, stating, “It barely needs stating that strangling another person is a highly dangerous attack.

It was entirely foreseeable that this could have resulted in death or catastrophic injuries.

You strangled her unconscious and abandoned her alone in that state in the middle of the night, and it is a matter of pure fortune that her injuries are not more serious than they already are.

The presence of children in the house is a serious aggravating factor.” The judge ordered that Delooze be classified as a dangerous offender, resulting in an extended sentence involving subsequent supervision and monitoring.

He clarified, “I am satisfied that you present a significant risk of committing further offences and that such offences carry a high risk of serious harm to members of the public.

I have been struck by the very serious and disturbing nature of this case, and how readily you were prepared to act in this way.” As a result, Delooze was sentenced to eight years in prison, with an additional two years on extended license.

He is also required to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life, meaning he will spend at least five years and four months—two-thirds of his sentence—behind bars before being eligible for parole, provided he is no longer deemed a threat.

Furthermore, a lifelong restraining order has been imposed to prevent any contact with the victim, ensuring her ongoing protection.

This case leaves a stark reminder of the dangers of uncontrolled violence and the devastating effect it can have on victims and their families in Manchester, Warrington, and beyond.
