MAN CHARGED WITH RAPE AFTER ALLEGED OFFENCES AT CASTLEFORD BAR

Detectives investigating allegations of sexual assault at a bar in Castleford have formally charged a man with two crimes.

Daniel Bennett, aged 43 and from Kippax, faces charges of rape and assault by penetration related to incidents reported to have taken place at Sanctum Bar in 2024 and 2026.

He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before Leeds magistrates on Wednesday, July 15.

Authorities continue to urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police stated: “Wakefield Safeguarding officers are offering support to the victims as investigations proceed to determine the full extent of the offending.
