MIDLANDS CHILD RAPIST JAILED FOR SEXUAL ACTIVITY WITH A CHILD
A Warwickshire man has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of sexual activity with a child by raping a child under the age of 16 Damion Bourne was handed a 24-month custodial sentence and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.According to official documents issued through the Warwickshire Probation Area’s Victim and Witness Information Partnership, the sentence falls under the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 2003.
Prisoners sentenced to 12 months or more are generally eligible for release on Home Detention Curfew (electronic tag).
However, in this case, Bourne was not placed on curfew.
Instead, he was scheduled for release on licence in January 2015, halfway through his prison term.
As part of his licence conditions, Bourne was required to comply with strict supervision measures set by probation officers.
Breaching these conditions could have resulted in his recall to prison.
His licence period and sentence were formally concluded in January 2015.
The order to remain on the Sex Offenders Register for a decade means Bourne will remain subject to monitoring and disclosure obligations until at least 2025.
This case highlights how probation services provide victims with key information about sentencing outcomes and release conditions to ensure transparency and support during and after criminal proceedings.
