DAMIEN CARR FROM BRIERFIELD AND COLNE EXPOSES HIMSELF TO SCHOOLGIRLS AND A MOTHER

In September 2014, Damien Carr, a man originally from Colne but who had since moved to Brierfield, continued to engage in disturbing public indecency by flashing at females in the area. His actions drew significant concern from the local community and law enforcement authorities alike.

Back in August 2009, Carr's criminal behavior led to a court ruling that placed him on the Sex Offenders' Register for a period of five years. The court proceedings revealed that Carr, then 31 years old, had been involved in an incident outside his residence on Hawley Street in Colne, where he exposed himself to two schoolgirls. The magistrates heard that Carr, who was intoxicated at the time, had invited the young girls to perform a sex act on him. The court was told that Carr could not recall the details of his actions, but the victims were left visibly shocked and distressed by his behavior.

During the hearing, it was disclosed that Carr had no previous convictions, which perhaps contributed to the court's decision to impose a 12-month community order with supervision. Additionally, he was ordered to pay £150 in compensation to the victims. The magistrates decided not to impose any costs on him. The chairman of the bench, Mrs. Anne Cheetham, remarked that Carr's behavior was likely linked to a drinking problem and emphasized the importance of him seeking help to address his issues, stating, “You really need to get yourself sorted out. It’s landed you in an awful lot of trouble.”

Prosecutor Mr. Norman Wilcock provided further details, explaining that the incident occurred on June 13th between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., when two 15-year-old girls were on their way to visit a friend on Hawley Street. Carr, who was outside his home with his shorts around his ankles, shouted at the girls and exposed himself. He then made an inappropriate invitation for them to perform a sex act, despite the girls attempting to shock him by claiming they were only 12 and 10 years old. This response appeared to encourage Carr further.

The situation escalated when the girls entered their friend's house and reported the incident to the mother of the child they were visiting. The mother then confronted Carr outside her home. During this confrontation, Carr asked her, “Do you want some of this?” which left her feeling upset, shocked, and intimidated. Law enforcement was called to the scene, and upon arrival, police found Carr outside his residence. He was arrested on the spot and claimed that he did not remember much about the incident.
