DAMIAN JENKINSON FROM WIGAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES
A man hailing from Wigan, who was once recognized as a prominent gardener and employed by the local council, has been handed a prison sentence of ten months after being found guilty of possessing and producing indecent images of children.Damian Jenkinson, aged 28, pleaded guilty to charges that involved both accessing and creating hundreds of such images, some classified within the most severe category of child abuse material.
The court proceedings revealed that the material was discovered when his partner came across the content stored on his computer.
This discovery led to Jenkinson’s arrest and subsequent conviction.
During the sentencing, the court highlighted the grave nature of the images involved, emphasizing the serious harm and distress caused by such material, even though there was no evidence suggesting that any local children from Wigan were directly involved in the abuse depicted.
In addition to his prison term, Damian Jenkinson was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for a period of ten years, a measure intended to monitor and restrict his future activities.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts by authorities to combat the distribution and possession of child abuse images, and it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and reporting in protecting vulnerable children from exploitation and harm.
