Damen Scott

Salford Sexual Abuser

December 2019 ‘Prolific paedophile’ jailed for 21 years for child sex abuse A prolific paedophile has been jailed for 21 years for encouraging a baby and other children to be sexually abused. Damen Scott, 34, was convicted of 17 counts of child sex offences at Manchester Crown Court. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) raided his home in Ashawe Terrace, Little Hulton, Salford in November 2017 after a tip-off from West Midlands Police. GMP said Scott had encouraged another man to “carry out acts of sexual abuse” and share images of it with him. One of the offences Scott was found guilty of included encouraging the commission of a child sex offence. GMP said their West Midlands colleagues informed them Scott had been using a messaging service “to talk graphically about child sexual abuse with a second man”. They raided Scott’s home address on 2 November 2017 and found “indecent images of children” on his devices. Det Ch Insp Judith Holmes of GMP said: “The severity of this case should not be underestimated. “Scott is a prolific paedophile who repeatedly encouraged the abuse of vulnerable children – one of which was a baby.” An NSPCC spokeswoman said: “By directing the monsters he met online to carry out unthinkable abuse of young victims for his own pleasure, Scott has shown he is a serious danger to children.” “Scott’s repulsive library includes thousands of images of suffering and pain being inflicted on children – and by sharing this material, he is fuelling the demand for even more victims to be abused,” she added. Scott was jailed for 21 years and given an extended sentence of five years. He was ordered to sign the sexual offenders register for life and issued with a lifelong sexual harm prevention order. Scott was also convicted for three breaches of a previous order from 2015, relating to the possession of prohibited images of children and animals. September 2019 Paedophile watched video of a man raping a baby – before encouraging the monster to abuse the child again A paedophile who watched a video of a man raping a baby – before encouraging the monster to abuse the child again – tried to blame his sickening crimes on an innocent person he met on Tinder. Damen Scott, 34, has been told he could face a life sentence after being unanimously found guilty of 10 offences following a trial. Jurors who sat on the case were told they would be excused from further jury service for life after a judge said they may never forget the harrowing evidence they heard. Police investigating a paedophile network across the country found Scott used various online profiles to discuss his sick fantasies. Prosecutors were able to trace some conversations to Scott’s IP address, at his home in Little Hulton, Salford. They found that Scott had shared indecent images of children with other paedophiles, as well as receiving them. He spoke to a paedophile in the West Midlands, who sent him a video of him raping a baby. Scott sent messages back approving of the vile act, and sent further messages to encourage the paedophile to carry out another rape, Manchester Crown Court heard. A sentencing hearing was told that man who raped the baby was previously jailed for 24 years for his crimes following a separate court case. When Scott was arrested, police seized several devices and found more than 1,500 indecent images of children on a tablet computer. After he was arrested again months later, police found Scott had more than 3,300 further incident images of children, stored on a mobile phone and an SD card. The ages of the children depicted ranged from nine months to 15-years-old. At trial, Scott, of Ashawe Terrace, Little Hulton, tried to blame a man he had been in a brief relationship with after they had met on Tinder. The man had been to Scott’s home twice on consecutive weekends. Scott claimed that at some point during that time, the man had accessed his internet connection and carried out the crimes which police had uncovered. He gave evidence at the trial. The jury saw through Scott’s lies, convicting him after spending about 90 minutes considering their verdicts on the 10 counts. Adjourning sentencing until November, Judge Anthony Cross QC said: “I am of the preliminary view that he [Scott] is a dangerous offender. He poses a serious risk of causing serious harm to children. “I am considering a life sentence, or an extended sentence.” The judge said he needed more information to decide on the ultimate punishment. Before remanding Scott back into custody before sentencing, the judge told him: “It surprises me that you decided to have a trial. The evidence was absolutely overwhelming, you had no answer for the evidence at all.” Judge Cross then told the jury: “I am sorry that you had to deal with this case. “The evidence… will be with you for the rest of your lives, I dare say. You will never forget it. “It is sad that you had to deal with it. “The internet is a wonderful thing, but when you see like I do, the misuse of it, you can see how it is a source for good and terrible, terrible evil.” Jurors were told that anyone who wished to be could ask to be excused from from further jury service for life. The jury found Scott guilty of five counts of distributing indecent images of children; two counts of encouraging or assisting the commission of an indictable offence; and three counts of making an indecent image of a child
