HOTEL WORKER SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AGAINST GIRLFRIEND
A 29-year-old hotel worker named Csaba Mihaly from Ballater was found guilty of domestic abuse after a nine-month campaign of violence against his partner. The court heard that Mihaly subjected his partner to numerous physical and verbal assaults at their home.
He spat in her face, pushed her to the ground, grabbed her by the throat causing her to struggle for breath, slapped her, and dragged her from a bed between June 2019 and March 2020.
Notably, he assaulted his now ex-girlfriend just five days after she had given birth.
During that incident, the victim was worried he might drop the newborn when she found him sleeping with the baby in his arms.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court detailed that Mihaly grabbed her by the neck with one hand and choked her, to the point she had difficulty breathing, and when she attempted to leave, he slapped her and slammed the door.
Other assaults included grabbing her by the arm and dragging her from a bed, as well as spitting on her during heated arguments.
Mihaly, who admitted the charge, was described by his defense as having some difficulty managing his emotions and acknowledged the toxic nature of their relationship, which he claimed was abusive on both sides.
The court sentenced him to a fine of £420, 18 months of supervision, and imposed a non-harassment order for the same duration.
Although the couple has separated, Mihaly continues to financially support his child.
