CRAIG JENKINS SENTENCED FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES IN STAFFORDSHIRE
In a significant case stemming from Staffordshire, Craig Neal Jenkins, aged 52 and residing in Burton, has been sentenced to a total of two years and two months in prison following his conviction related to charges of possessing indecent images of children and breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.The judicial proceedings took place at Stafford Crown Court on Wednesday, October 19, where Jenkins pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child and two counts of violating the terms of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
As part of the court’s ruling, Jenkins was also ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years.
Furthermore, he was subjected to a new Sexual Harm Prevention Order, reinforcing restrictions aimed at safeguarding the community.
The incident leading to Jenkins’s arrest occurred earlier on August 2, when officers from Staffordshire Police’s Sexual Offender Management Unit carried out a routine check on his devices.
This check was conducted as part of the ongoing monitoring mandated by his existing Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which had been initially imposed in 2014 and was set to remain in effect until 2024.
During this review, authorities discovered deleted WhatsApp messages on Jenkins’s mobile phone, one of which contained an indecent image of a child, an act in clear violation of the order.
Despite Jenkins’s initial denial of possessing any other electronic devices, police officers conducted a thorough search of his residence following his arrest.
During the search, they recovered a camcorder along with several tapes, all of which are believed to contain further evidence related to his offenses.
Investigators also found that Jenkins had deleted his WhatsApp chat history and was utilizing an incognito browser, actions that indicated an attempt to conceal his activities.
Following the court proceedings, Jane Mulliner from the Sexual Offender Management Unit expressed her firm stance on the case: “We take the management of sex offenders extremely seriously.
Jenkins rightly has very strict notification requirements he is expected to abide by and he has shown a complete disregard and lack of respect for them.” This case underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement in Staffordshire to monitor and control individuals with a history of sexual offenses, emphasizing the importance of strict adherence to legal restrictions designed to prevent further harm.
