EIGHT YEARS FOR 'PREDATORY' VAN RAPIST CRAIG HYSLOP
A man responsible for driving a woman along rural roads in a van before assaulting her twice has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Craig Hyslop, aged 22, carried out the attacks in Renfrewshire on January 2.
During the case at Glasgow’s High Court, it was revealed that the victim, overwhelmed with fear, attempted to escape twice but was pursued by Hyslop, who forced her back into the vehicle.
Judge Lady Wolffe characterized Hyslop’s behavior as “predatory” and mandated that he be subjected to post-release supervision for two and a half years.
Additionally, she ordered his inclusion on the sex offenders register.
Addressing Hyslop directly, Lady Wolffe stated, “These are very serious crimes; your actions were calculated and predatory.
You subjected the complainant to an extended and terrifying experience, taking her to isolated locations and threatening her for hours while you drove around.
When she was able to escape, you pursued her, brought her back, and then raped her.”
