September 2018 Child rapist sentenced to ten years A child rapist has been jailed for ten years Craig Edwards, 32, of Bracken Close, Broxtowe, pleaded guilty to three rape offences on three young girls. Dealing with him at Nottingham Crown Court, Judge Stuart Rafferty QC said he will serve half his sentence in prison and the remainder on licence. “These were grave, grave offences and only a custodial sentence can be imposed,” he told him in the dock. Edwards – who showed no visible emotion in the dock – will be on the sex offenders’ register for life. And he will barred from accredited activities with children and subject to a restraining order. Edwards raped one girl during a summer holiday after pinning her down as he tickled her. He used a quilt to wipe away her tears and said “you are alright, alright”. When he was 14, he raped a second girl when he pushed her against a radiator. The third girl was raped by Edwards when she was a teenager. She eventually pushed him off. All the victims cannot be identified as they have anonymity for life due to the nature of the offences.
