| Red Rose Database
Forfar Dunfermline Domestic Abuser
A man named Craig Berturelli, who currently resides in Dunfermline but has strong ties to Forfar, is set to stand trial on serious allegations involving abusive behavior, theft, and threats. The charges stem from a series of incidents that allegedly took place over a span of several months, beginning in October of the previous year and continuing into March of this year.
According to court documents, Berturelli is accused of engaging in a pattern of abusive conduct directed at his former partner. The allegations include an incident where he destroyed her mobile phone by smashing it with a hammer, effectively rendering the device unusable. Following this act, it is claimed that Berturelli replaced the destroyed phone with another device, which he then set a passcode on, granting him access to her social media accounts and personal messages. Prosecutors allege that he repeatedly accessed her social media profiles without permission, sending abusive messages and making calls to her friends and family members, causing significant distress.
The charges further detail that between March 10 and 11, Berturelli made threatening remarks towards the woman, including threats to harm her and her family members. These threats were allegedly made just before he took her phone and bank cards without her consent, actions that added to the severity of the accusations. On March 12, Berturelli is accused of confronting three women who had visited the property to check on the woman’s welfare. During this confrontation, he is alleged to have shouted, sworn, and issued violent threats, creating an environment of fear and alarm among those present.
Additional allegations include a breach of bail conditions. It is claimed that on March 15, after being released from custody, Berturelli attempted to contact the woman by posting a letter and a ring through her letterbox, despite being under strict conditions not to do so. This breach of the investigative liberation conditions is part of the charges he faces.
At his court appearance from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court, Berturelli, aged 32 and residing at Glenogil Terrace in Forfar, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court scheduled his trial for October, with Sheriff Graeme Napier presiding. Berturelli was granted bail under strict conditions, including a prohibition on contacting the women involved and entering West High Street in Forfar, where the incidents are said to have occurred. The case continues as Berturelli prepares to face the allegations in court.
