CRAIG ANDERSON ARRESTED IN ARBROATH FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND VIDEOS
In September 2021, law enforcement authorities conducted a significant operation targeting Craig Anderson, a resident of Arbroath, following credible intelligence that led to a police raid on his family home.The investigation uncovered a disturbing collection of over 400 images and video clips depicting the sexual abuse of young children, some as young as two years old.
The footage, which had a combined duration of nearly 30 minutes, revealed the extent of Anderson's involvement in the possession and distribution of vile material.
Anderson, aged 37, was apprehended after police obtained a search warrant based on confidential information.
The warrant was executed at the residence he shared with his parents, where officers gained entry with the assistance of his father.
During the search, various electronic devices were recovered, which were believed to contain the illicit content.
The court was informed that Anderson had been actively downloading these disturbing images at his home between November 16, 2019, and March 27 of the following year.
He subsequently admitted to possessing the material, which included images obtained through Skype, a popular communication platform.
The investigation revealed that some of the content involved children subjected to sadistic sexual abuse, highlighting the severity of the case.
During the hearing at Dundee Sheriff Court, the prosecution, represented by Fiscal depute Lora Apostolova, detailed the findings and the nature of the evidence.
She emphasized the disturbing nature of the material and the breach of laws designed to protect children from exploitation.
Judge Alastair Carmichael decided to defer sentencing to allow for the preparation of detailed reports on Anderson’s background and circumstances.
Anderson was granted bail pending further proceedings, as the court considered the case of significant concern and the need for thorough assessment before any final judgment.
