May 2011 Girl found paedophile’s stash of indecent photos A PAEDOPHILE was foiled by his partner’s young daughter when she stumbled across his collection of indecent images of children. Derby Crown Court heard the girl showed her mother an image she had seen on Craig Allen’s laptop. The mother ended the relationship and contacted police. Allen, of Mercaston Lane, Ashbourne, was arrested and police found 541 images on his laptop and computer ranging from category one to four. Category five is the most graphic. Of the images, the vast majority – 532 – were category one. Three were category two, a further three category three, and another three category four. Allen, who was arrested in November 2009, initially denied he was responsible for the images. He eventually pleaded guilty at Derby Crown Court to six counts of making indecent images and two counts of possession of indecent images. Recorder Paul Mann QC said: “Very much most of the material is only level one. It is because of the age of the children in the photos, rather than anything else, that makes them unlawful and indecent.” Allen, 40, was sentenced to a three-year community order with supervision requirements. He was banned from working with children and prohibited from living with children under 16 unless they were a blood relative. He was also banned from using computer software designed to delete internet activity and was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for the next five years.
