COURTNEY HAVILL FROM WIGAN SENTENCED FOR SHOCKING EXPOSES IN GREATER MANCHESTER
In a disturbing series of incidents that took place across Wigan, a local man named Courtney Havill has been convicted and sentenced for a pattern of indecent exposure directed at multiple women over nearly a year.The offences, which occurred between October 2021 and September 2022, involved Havill approaching women in various locations within Wigan while completely unclothed from the waist down, engaging in lewd acts while maintaining eye contact.
The first incident was reported on October 2, 2021, at approximately 11 a.m.
when Havill, 26 years old at the time, approached a woman in her 20s who was in her vehicle on School Lane, near Haigh Hall Country Park.
He was driving a silver Audi and asked her for directions.
As she looked into his car, she was shocked to see that he was not wearing any trousers or underwear and was touching himself while speaking to her.
Less than three weeks later, on October 23, 2021, at around 4 p.m., Havill targeted a woman in her 40s on Aspinall Road in Standish.
He again approached her in his Audi, asking for directions, while similarly not wearing any lower clothing and engaging in self-stimulation.
The third incident occurred late at night on March 8, 2022, at 11:45 p.m.
when Havill followed a woman in her 20s from traffic lights at the junction of Wigan Road and Cale Lane.
He flashed his car lights to signal her to pull over, then approached her vehicle, opened the passenger door, and sat inside.
Once inside, he was again not wearing any lower clothing, took her phone, and entered his Snapchat details.
He then asked her for a kiss and began touching himself.
The woman told him to leave, which he did, but later sent her an apology via Snapchat.
The final reported incident took place on September 9, 2022, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
in Shevington.
Havill was found in a parked BMW with no lights on along Shevington Lane.
As a woman in her 40s walked past, he turned on the interior light of the vehicle and, while looking at her, touched himself.
She attempted to photograph the vehicle, but Havill sped away from the scene.
All four women described the suspect as being in his 20s with curly ginger hair.
Following police investigations, Havill was identified and brought in for questioning.
During the interview, he provided multiple false alibis, claiming he was at work or elsewhere at the times of the offences.
However, these claims were quickly disproved, especially since the vehicles used in the incidents were registered to him.
He also suggested that he might be a victim of mistaken identity.
Havill’s actions led to his conviction and sentencing at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.
He was sentenced to 52 weeks in custody, but this sentence was suspended for two years.
As part of his sentence, he is required to participate in the Horizons Programme and complete 20 rehabilitation days.
Additionally, he must pay a total of £500 in compensation to the victims.
A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was also issued, which mandates that he inform police of any vehicles he owns or drives and requires him to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
