COURTNEY ADAMS FROM MANCHESTER SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR BRUTAL RAPE AND MULTIPLE BURGLARIES IN MANCHESTER
In a case that has shocked the local community, Courtney Adams, a man from Manchester, was convicted of a series of heinous crimes that culminated in the sexual assault and rape of a 19-year-old woman.The incident took place in the early hours of November 29, 2022, and the subsequent investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of criminal activity involving multiple break-ins and violent assaults across Manchester.
Adams, born on November 1, 1990, and residing on Chichester Road in Manchester, first broke into a property on Greater Western Street earlier that night.
Armed with a crowbar, he gained entry into the victim’s home, which was quickly noticed by the resident.
Upon seeing Adams, the woman fled her flat in a panic, seeking help from neighbors.
During her absence, Adams ransacked her residence, stealing various items including debit cards and multiple bags.
Despite attempts to use the stolen cards at a nearby convenience store later that night, Adams was unsuccessful in his efforts to withdraw cash.
Later, Adams made his way to Cavendish Place, where he targeted another residence.
Gaining entry into the property, he retrieved a kitchen knife and entered a bedroom where the 19-year-old victim was sleeping.
The situation quickly escalated into a terrifying ordeal.
Adams pressed the knife against her face, threatening to harm her if she did not hand over cash and valuables.
Overcome with fear and distress, the young woman complied, handing over a sum of money.
However, Adams continued to search the room for more items, displaying a violent and predatory behavior.
Following this, Adams assaulted and sexually assaulted the victim, raping her in a manner that has left her deeply traumatized.
After the attack, he forced her to accompany him to a nearby cashpoint, where he demanded she withdraw additional money.
Once he obtained the cash and valuables, Adams forced the victim to re-enter her home through a window before fleeing the scene with his stolen goods.
Immediately after the assault, the victim contacted a friend and together they reported the incident to the police.
The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) launched a comprehensive investigation, which involved extensive house-to-house inquiries and the review of hundreds of hours of CCTV footage.
Public appeals for information proved fruitful, as members of the community provided crucial CCTV footage that helped investigators piece together Adams’ movements on the night of the crimes.
Further evidence was uncovered when police found receipts near Cavendish Place indicating Adams attempted to use the stolen credit cards at a local shop.
This evidence linked him to the earlier burglary on Greater Western Street.
The Greenheys Neighbourhood Team reviewed the CCTV footage and identified Adams as the suspect.
This identification led to a warrant being executed at Adams’ residence, and subsequent phone investigations provided vital evidence placing him at both crime scenes during the times of the offenses.
Adams was arrested on December 4, 2022, at Martindale Crescent in Longsight.
During police interviews, he chose not to comment on the allegations.
A few days later, on December 7, authorities executed a warrant at a different address where Adams had been staying.
During this search, they recovered a camera belonging to the victim, further linking him to the crimes.
Following a thorough trial, Adams was convicted of multiple charges, including the rape and sexual assault of the young woman, as well as the burglaries.
On August 31, 2023, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with an additional five years on license following his release.
