HERTFORD ABUSER CONVICTED AFTER BRAVE VICTIM COME FORWARD
A woman's act of bravery in reporting her assault has led to the conviction of her abuser, who subjected her to sexual assault and physical abuse.Costas Jordanou, aged 34, from Bluecoat Court in Hertford, was found guilty at St Albans Crown Court on July 2 of engaging in sexual penetration, practicing coercive and controlling behaviour, and physically assaulting her.
Detective Constable Jason Tinsey commented: "It required considerable courage for the victim to come forward and report what she endured at the hands of Jordanou, and I am glad we have achieved this conviction.
We take allegations of this kind very seriously.
Anyone who has experienced sexual assault or abuse can be assured they will be believed, and we will do everything possible to support them." Jordanou was formally charged and remanded into custody on December 19, 2025, following an inquiry by the Sexual Offences Investigation Team (SOIT).
His sentencing is scheduled for Friday, August 21.
